I should Not Be Permitted to Care for Any Living Thing

An interesting weekend to say the least.

I decided that it was finally time to trim the chow. I got the table out, the arm on the table. the clippers and the scissors and got ready to groom her.

Things went rapidly down hill from there. The arm slipped while I was using the scissors (I was never able to use the clippers, couldn't get them to go through the under hair) and hit me on the head, which started me bleeding. I cut the same ear of the chow that Van Gogh took off which started her bleeding. I then at some point managed to cut her in the chest. The chow has been surprisingly forgiving, but will not allow anyone within ten feet of her if they have anything at all in their hand.

Washed the St. the next day which wasn't so bad because even though he acts like he doesn't like it he seems to enjoy the feeling when it is done.

Geez this on top of putting dog flea stuff on a cat so that I had to wash her with Dawn to make sure I go it all off her so she wouldn't go into convulsions. I have not had a lot of success with the animals in the last couple of weeks. Of course I would guess that they are not particularly happy with me either.

On The Road Again

Getting ready to hit the road. Got a great house sitter the dogs love her and she likes to stay at our place so it all works out well.
On the other hand my traveling computer, the ASUS solid state is sitting in the computer shop because one or more of the cats decided that the wire from the charger was tasty and of course that specific computer is rare and they have to ship the part from Indonesia or where ever to get the thing up and running.

For some reason all the cats are still alive.

Sunday

Well I have been having a problem writing anything political recently. Not because I don't feel strongly, I do, but because everything I say seems so obvious that everyone should be able to see it without my pointing it out. If that is the case and they don't see it, then I'm not sure what I could say to make them see it. Well in the meantime how about some animals?

These Are Action Shots

As you can see the cats are terrified of the dogs.
Isn't this a sign of the end times.

Socks and Sonny

Sonny

I was watching Sonny the huge orange and white male cat laying in the sun by the front door and I remembered Socks. I posted about him very shortly after starting blogging in August 2007.

What a little guy he was and he was with us for so short a time. It is strange how strongly I remember him and how much I miss him.

Sonny started out at only a couple of ounces and we had to bottle feed him, but he made it.

Animals

Loki and Sonny watching Ming eat. Loki praying that she doesn't eat it all.

Ming and Loki resting after a hard day.

Tux and Halley resting after a hard day of running the house.

We've had a hard time with Loki and his stomach recently. Actually, he's not been well since we got him at about six weeks old. His stomach has been a problem for some time.

It got so bad that we took him to the vet the vet recommended pepsid and anti gas pills and we started to give them to him in coupious quanties. It would help him for a couple of hours and then he'd start to pant really hard again. The vet said that St. Bernards just had delicate stomachs. I thought that was odd since the St. we had when Iwas a kid didn't have a delicate stomach and my brother had had five and he'd never mentioned that any of them had delicate stomachs either.

At any rate the vet had no desire to do any tests and seemed absolutely positive about the diagnosis and what we needed to do for Loki.

Well we did it for a good while. Then the last week of May Loki threw up five out of seven days. And he threw up a lot. The last time he threw up was on Friday and I lost my mind. I ranted that there was something more here than just a delicate stomach and we were taking him into the vet to have tests run (something, as I said, that the vet seemed unwilling to do).

So the little woman, got on line and went to http://www.justanswer.com/ and typed in Loki's symptoms and other information and about four hours later we had a response.

The suggestions were for blood work, to treat the possibility of a weird kind of intestinal worm and to treat for Irritable Bowel Disease. Well we had a vet's appointment on the 9th so we decided to start treating him for the IBD, something we could do and we knew wouldn't hurt him. No dry food, yogurt with every meal, and make him walk after each meal. Withing two days there was a major change. No heavy breathing, sleeping through out the night, and no throw up.

Good lord, why do you wonder wasn't our vet able to suggest that this might be a problem and to suggest a simply change in diet to treat him?
