DUH

You know that sometimes there are things that are so far beyond what any rational person could imagine, that I find it impossible to make fun of them. Not only that I find it even impossible to become angry in any rational way. It is beyond bizarre.

Bring your kid to work day and get them tazed. Not only that, but according to the guy who did the tazing, the parents said it was ok. So, I guess that tells us a little about the level of humanity of the prison guards (and their families) in Florida.

It says a little more about their intelligence when the guy doesn't seem to understand what the problem is.

If this is the general point of view of a significant minority (and I suspect it is) then one can certainly see where those who approve torture are coming from. Although to be honest I don't understand them much either. But if it is ok to taz your own kid then I guess torturing a brown foreigner is no big deal.

Centrists Urge [Insert Own Historical Analogy Here]

That would be us the people currently.

Other than the fact that anyone called a centrist (is that a word?) is really a conservative or more likely a reactionary and a friend of Mr. O, is that news story a surprise? I think not.

I guess we can all make up our own joke, but it does get kind of old.

Generally speaking when I make a terrible error in judgement I normally try to either correct it or just keep my mouth shut and not attract any more attention to myself. What do you suppose drives these people? They have really screwed up and yet they continue as if their actions have been validated by history. Both of my dogs and most of the cats are able to learn from their mistakes, why can't senators?

Well alrighty then, I might do that too, if I thought that I could get away with it. On the other hand, I would hope that I would have the ability to learn a little something from destroying the nation's economy. But hey why learn if you don't have to, right? You can bail out your friends and your bosses (just remember that we, the people, are not considered the bosses of those we elect). But really the little people do not count as we count, do not think as we think, are not really human, as they are human. So fuck em.

We are kind of the lesser breeds without the law, you know. I do believe that our present rulers have the same feeling for us little people that the Romanov's, Bourbons, and southern whites had for the serfs, peasants, and blacks. And you know what I'm beginning to think that we might deserve it cause we keep sending the same kind of people back to D.C. every election cycle.

So maybe the question is: Is we uneducable?

The Bailout

Serious people are all in a tither about the failure of the bailout bill yesterday. Even though as of now the market has rebounded by about half of what it lost.

Don't forget that people were saying that the market is really over priced anyway. In addition, they, the serious ones, all seriously believed Bush in 2002 and 2003. Now they realize that maybe that guy lied to them then. They also now think that maybe those people were not the most competent people either, you know. I mean we all know they screwed up Katrina, didn't they, but nothing like that would happen again, would it?

Finally, like FISA we can be sure that the Dems will return crawling and roll over on their back to have their tummys scratched by Bush when they pass an almost identical bill in a couple of days. Even though by then it will be clear that this bill isn't what is needed. More is needed to help the poor and middle class. None of that will be given because well we really can't push now can we?

It kind of reminds me of the part in Animal House where they trashed Flounder's brother's car. Remember? "You screwed up. You trusted us."
